Show Screening!
When: Friday 17 April 2009

Laskar Pelangi means the rainbow warrior is an adaptation from the phenomenal Indonesian novel by Andrea Hirata. This film will go to this year’s international film festival.
It’s a story of children in a small elementary school in a small island at the northern part of Indonesia, Belitung.
Being the largest tin producer in South East Asia, most of the Belitung people live in poverty. The only school in that area was located in an abandoned animal stall which was always flooded in a rainy season. There were only 10 children studying in that school, and in Grade 6, when they graduated the number even dropped into 9. The local government was nearly closed this school coz it’s too small and not economical. Fortunately, these children had a very dedicated headmaster and a very inspirational teacher.
The movie is filled with heroic stories about life challenges, stories about reaching your dreams, and stories about the beauty of friendship. Mostly portrays the very essence of beauty that Indonesia has.
The writer of this story, Andrea Hirata, got a scholarship to study in the UK and France where he was awarded cum laude from both universities.
There will be free Producer Seminar. (Only for First 400 people who register for the seminar and purchase the screening Ticket).
It has English subtitle.
This Film surely not to be missed!!!!
